Scheduled and Timed Recordings
Starting a recording at a certain time, stopping it automatically, or starting right away.
Screenflick can start a recording at a time you choose, stop it after a length of time you choose, or both. It can also start a recording right away using the same settings and recording area as last time.
Scheduling a Recording #
Choose "Set Recording Timer…" from the Record menu to open the "Scheduled Recording" window. You can also click "Record with Schedule…" in the recording area selection window.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Start recording at | The date and time the recording starts. The earliest time you can choose is one minute from now. |
| Stop recording after | How long the recording runs, in hours, minutes, and seconds. When that much time has been recorded, Screenflick stops the recording by itself. |
You can turn on one of them, or both. Use only "Stop recording after" for a recording that starts when you start it, and ends on its own. Use only "Start recording at" for a recording that starts at a certain time, and ends when you stop it. Use both for a recording that starts and ends without you.
The main button says "Record with Schedule" when either one is turned on, and "Record Now" when neither is. Click "Cancel" to close the window without recording.
To record on a schedule
-
Choose "Set Recording Timer…" from the Record menu.
-
Turn on "Start recording at" and choose the date and time, or turn on "Stop recording after" and enter how long to record, or both.
-
Click "Record with Schedule".
-
Choose the area to record, just as you would for any other recording. See Recording Area Selection.
Waiting for the Start Time #
If you chose a start time, Screenflick hides its window after you choose the recording area, and shows a small indicator that tells you when the recording will start. The recording starts by itself when that time arrives.
Screenflick keeps your Mac and its display from going to sleep while it waits and records. Also make sure the screen you're recording is turned on and unlocked when the recording is supposed to start.
Start Recording Immediately #
"Start Recording Immediately" starts a recording right away, using the previous settings and recording area. There's no area to select and no window to click through, so it's the quickest way to make the same kind of recording again.
You can find it in the Screenflick global menu in the menu bar, and in the Record menu. You can also give it a keyboard shortcut in Screenflick's General preferences, so you can start recording from any application. See General Preferences.
